The much anticipated rival game between Manchester United and Manchester City took place a few hours ago. Pep Guardiola’s team went home with a 2-0 victory over Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s United. The derby loss follows the days after United’s humiliating 4-0 loss against Everton. According to United’s own forward, Marcus Rashford, there’s something wrong with United’s formula for game defense and dynamic.
Rashford’s team, United was comfortably trumped by the Red Devils Wednesday night, with midfielder Bernardo Silva and winger Leroy Sane scoring second-half goals in a 2-0 win at Old Trafford. Rashford lays off his brutal honesty when it comes to his team’s performance lately and says United’s performance has not been anywhere near good enough, with much more determination from the team to get back to their best shape.
“It was quite clear tonight who the better team was. Tonight we didn’t play like Man United and that’s been the last couple of weeks to be honest. That’s not right. Bare minimum it should be to work hard for the badge, for the supporters and just for the club, but important to do it for yourself as well.” Rashford tells Sky Sports.
The massive loss removes United from securing a spot at the final four, falling a few steps behind Tottenham and Chelsea who occupy the final two spots at the Champions League. Rashford believes there must be something to improve and put back together, “To not be putting in the performances we were it’s disappointing for the players and the last couple of weeks we know what’s been going wrong and it’s just a matter of putting it back how it was.” The 21-year-old Englishman added.
